Early Times Report

Jammu, June 21: Even as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the International Yoga Day highlighting the importance of the healthy event, thousands of schoolchildren of Kashmir surprised the world by holding numerous such events at places including temples and gardens on June 21.
In Kashmir, where till a few years ago, the separatist forces and the “dynasts” would try to downplay the event of global importance, it was a amazing response to the efforts of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah in particular, who took the bold decision of the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019.
From the revered Shankar Acharya Temple on the hilltop to the Pari Mahal on the heels of Zabarwan Hills, numerous Yoga events were held across Kashmir including government offices.
At the Shankarachayra Temple, the prominent gurus of Yoga enlightened with people with the importance of Yoga and how it should be done. Many of the people were flanked by their kids who looked enthusiastic.
The children said it was great to be part of such learning. “Now onwards we’ll make Yoga our daily routine as it keeps you in good health and we want to thank Modi Ji for the same,” said a group of schoolchildren at the historic Pari Mahal near Raj Bhawan.
A school teacher said he has finally learnt the importance of the Yoga in “Naya Kashmir.”
“Till a few years ago there would be lot of politics on it but now one finds that Yoga is so good for health,” said the teacher working at a prominent school.
Similar events were held at Zabarwan Park and in other districts as well where the schoolchildren looked overjoyed to be part of the Yoga celebrations.
“I’ll ask my parents also to make a habit of doing Yoga as it’s good for health and keeps you healthy,” said a schoolboy in Srinagar.
