Art of Living organizes slew of events across globe to celebrate 8th International Yoga Day

JAMMU, June 21: The Art of Living celebrated the 8th edition of the International Day of Yoga on June 21st with grandeur, with thousands practicing yoga together at iconic locations worldwide. The theme of this year's festivity was #PromiseToYoga, an initiative to promote more conscious and healthy lifestyles.
As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Art of Living hosted large-scale events in major Indian cities in addition to pan-India events organized independently.
Events were hosted at - New Delhi, Nehru Park South Delhi in partnership with NDMC; Victoria Memorial and Indian Museum, Kolkata; Himachal Pradesh, Kangra Fort - in partnership with Ministry of Education; Himachal Pradesh, Parashar Lake(Mandi) - in partnership with MoS (Finance); Himachal Pradesh, Atal Tunnel, - in partnership with MoS (Sports & Home Affairs); Bihar, Maha Bodhi temple, Bodh Gaya - in partnership with Ministry of Steel; Bihar, Patliputra Stadium, Patna - in partnership with State Ministry of Ayush; Assam, Dibrugarh - in partnership with State Govt of Assam (Ministry of Ayush); Telangana, Hyderabad, Parade Grounds - in partnership with Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Tourism.
Events were held by the organization globally in Rwanda - Africa, Azerbaijan, Atlanta, and Beirut - Lebanon. Union Minister of India Hon. Piyush Goyal and Ambassador of Santosh Jha attended the event in Brussels - Belgium. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Global Humanitarian, Spiritual Leader, and Founder of The Art of Living said, " We are going through a very tough time in the world today after two years of the pandemic and then the war and inflation have really taken a toll on human life and the suffering has increased, Yoga is the way to find the inner strength to sail over this tough time and to be more creative and productive in our endowment."
On the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2022, the Jammu and Kashmir AOL Chapter demonstrated Yoga Protocol with full enthusiasm. The highlight of the Art of Living's massive IDY 2022 celebrations this year was inmates from District Jail in udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir where a workshop for prison rehabilitation programme also started for inmates for their well being which will be taken by senior AOl faculty Shakti Sagar ji along with other jails of the country joining in. The organization has already touched the lives of 6, 50,000 inmates in 45 countries with yoga-based stress management and rehabilitation programs. In Kathua AOL faculty Dr Nitin took sessions of over thousand of civil society members, govt dignitaries organised by District Administration in collaboration with Ministry of Ayush.
Art of Living Jammu chapter took sessions of International Day of Yoga 2022 at different locatoin in J&K, with more than 5100 participants which includes Army, RBI, Sanik and others schools, public functions, functions by govt organisations, civil society at various locations throughout the state. The other events planned of IYD 2022 are yoga camps at all AOL centres in Jammu, Kathua and Udhampur . Prominently AOL DTC Prabha Slathia took sessions at Akhnoor at Army Camps and RBI Jammu and AOL youth Faculty Ritvik, Akshita and Sunny also took yoga workshop at RBI in second Session "The International Day of Yoga is a big moment for us. We have been teaching authentic and comprehensive yoga for the last 40 years all over the world. That we are having so many events in so many countries proves that yoga is truly universal," says Ajay Kapoor State Coordinator - Art of living bureau of communications and projects
