Extensive drive carried out COTPA by Food Safety DFCO in Jammu

JAMMU, Jan 31: The team of Food Safety DFCO Jammu led by Deputy Commissioner, DFCO, Jammu accompanied by Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety DFCO District Jammu along Food Safety Officers including Zulfkar Hussain Rajesh Singh Jamwal, Anju Singh Verma and Raj Kumar was carried out at adjoing aresa and Bus Stand Jammu and the teams of the teams of Enforcement Officers in District Doda and District Kishtwar during the drive 45 violators were found violating section 4 of COTPA and were on the spot imposed with a fine of Rs.5000. For exploring awareness the team of Food Safety DFCO Jammu emphasized on the topic in lucid & sceince-based manner, imparted and elaborated the real motto of the drive to the public added on new acknowledgements the team highlighted the importance of the drive with full zest and zeal. Deputy Commissioner Food Safety DFCO jammu divsion expressed that team is bent upon to put in the efficient efforts for curbing the menace of hazardous effects of cigarette smoking and chewing tobacco products including notorious & drastic effects on human body/ Environment/ Economy & on society. He further, said that the cigarette & other tobacco products Act 2003, Rules 2004, 2008, 2011& latest amendment 2019,2020 & 2021 added with Sections section 4,5, 6 & 7 & Rules made thereunder were broadly to the elaborated with wide publicity and full coverage to the Act. To gauge the extremly harish impact of Consumption of Tobacco and its products the Assistant Commissioner FoodSafety DFCO Jammu amid at the public at Bus Stand jammu did motivate the public to follow the provisions of the Act .The Enforement Officers awareed the people to avoid the commission of the Offences like smoking in public places and consuming Chewing Tobacco products, including Gutka (banned) & other Tobacco sellers would face the hardest possible punishment for minors violations. This drive of check & control will fight against the deadly diseases like cancer of lungs, oral cancer, urinary bladder, diabetes, obesity, mental health & air pollution etc. Although the markets is having these products but as per the Act sale is permitted but not to the minors & to be adhered to the Cigarette warnings & other provisions of the Act The drive is to flagg off the mission for curbing the menace from grass root level, hence there is need to stop the thwart by wake of awareness, behvourial therapies, counselings, de addiction schemes & discourage the exposed sale & distribution so as to avoid health issues. Overall, the emphasis were made at broader level to make modification of life styles for Healthy Nation.
