Weather improves, air and train services resume in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 31: Air operations resumed from Kashmir on Tuesday as weather conditions improved, officials said.
The flight operation at Srinagar International Airport had remained suspended for the day on Monday due to major snowfall.
However, Srinagar-Jammu National highway remained closed for the second consecutive day on Tuesday due to shooting of stones and mudslides at various places.
People are advised not to take any journey on NH-44 till the restoration work is completed?, a traffic police tweet said.
Train services partially resumed from Budgam to Sadura after a day’s halt due to snowfall, a railway official said.
The Meteorological Centre forecast of weather in Kashmir is foggy at present and will gradually decrease and mainly clear in the Jammu region.
The weather will remain dry from February 1 to 4 and thereafter light Rain/snowfall at isolated places on February 5 for subsequent week. No Major Snowfall for next 10 days, the MeT office said.
Srinagar recorded a minimum of sub zero temperature on Tuesday and it also received 13.4mm of rain and 16.0 cms of snow during the past 24 hours till 0830 hours.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of minus 0.4 degree Celsius and it also received 37.7mm of rainfall and 25.0 Cms of snow.
Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir had a low of minus 4.7 degree Celsius and it also received 43.7mm of rain and 26.9 Cms of snow, while Kokernag recorded a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius and it also received 27.0mm of rainfall and 18.5 Cms of snow during the past 24 hours till 0830hours.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place recorded at minus 8.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday and it also received 54.1mm of rain and 50.0 snow during the past 24 hours till 0830hours.
Kupwara had a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius and it also received 28.6mm of rainfall and 20.0 Cms of snow during the past 24 hours till 0830 hours, the Met office said.
