BJP organizes seminar on National Education Policy

JAMMU, Jan 31: A seminar on National Education Policy-2023, a boon for present generation students, was organized by department of Publications, J&K BJP in collaboration with department of Literature, BJP Jammu and Kashmir.
Former Deputy CM of J&K Kavinder Gupta presided the program, while Dr. J.N. Baliya, Head Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu and R. S. Pathania, former BJP MLA from Ramnagar were the main Speakers.
Kavinder Gupta said that NEP-2020 is a visionary policy and has custom made curricular structure for each age group combining learning with physical, mental and emotional development. He further said that the policy has been formulated keeping in view the needs and aspirations of a developing India. Kavinder Gupta appreciated the initiative of department of Publications and department of Literature of BJP Jammu and Kashmir UT for organizing such an informative and intellectual program to educate and enlighten the common masses as well as young BJP leadership of J&K.
R.S. Pathania said that the new National Education Policy-2020 (NEP) envisions India regaining the coveted position of global dominance. It enables higher education institutions to develop a system that directly contributes to the country's transformation into a global knowledge superpower. He further said that NEP 2020 would prove to be a pivotal point in terms of meeting the country's inclusive development goals while also establishing a robust community. It brought into light a shift toward multi-disciplinary education, away from rigid silos of "arts," "science," and "commerce" streams, with a renewed focus on 21st-century skills for holistic, critical, discovery, discussion and analysis-based learning.
While speaking on the topic Dr. J.N. Baliya said that National Policy on Education is a comprehensive framework to guide the development of education in the country. He further disclosed that the present National Education Policy of India 2020 (NEP 2020), aims at school and higher education institutions both outlining the vision of new education system of India. Through NEP 2020, the Government of India has paved the way for transformative and dynamic reform in school and higher education system of our country. The National Education Policy 2020 was approved by the Union Cabinet of India on July 29, 2020. The new education policy has replaced the previous "National Policy on Education, 1986" which was the second only education policy of India since independence as the first "National Policy on Education" was launched in the year 1968.
Dr. Baliya further said that the NEP 2020 strives for an inclusive and equitable educational system and introduces broad-based, multi- disciplinary, holistic education at the higher education level through flexible curricula, creative subject combinations, integration of vocational education, and multiple entry and exit points with appropriate certification.
While presenting vote of thanks, Pawan Sharma, Incharge department of Literature BJP J&K, said that this seminar is an attempt to share and discuss the applicability and implementation of NEP 2020 effectively in the educational institutions across J&K. The conclusion drawn from the seminar would facilitate the participants and other stakeholders in making suggestions and legislative and policy based interventions to bring about positive and wholesome transformation in both academic as well as social sphere.
