Rahul caught in controversies
1/31/2023 10:59:40 PM
After completing Bharat Jodo Yatra Rahul Gandhi returned to New Delhi. He was accorded a warm welcome by his supporters as they congratulated the scion of Gandhi family for completing the yatra successfully. Rahul Gandhi embarking on Bharat Jodo Yatra in September last year woke up the Congress leaders from deep slumber and more than anything the yatra helped in bringing the leaders of the grand old party together.
In the last leg of yatra, Rahul was caught in controversies as his cutout standing taller than the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Srinagar evoked sharp reactions from different quarters.
Many leaders accused Rahul Gandhi of “violating” the flag code while unfurling the tricolor in Srinagar and termed Rahul putting his own cutout as a demonstration of the psychology of a dynast, where for him his image and picture and his name on schemes or his father’s name on schemes or his grandmother’s name on schemes takes precedence over National Flag & what is right for the country.
Rahul was reminded that as per section 2 of the Prevention of Insult of National Honour Act 1971, “no other flag or bunting shall be placed higher than or above or side by side with the National Flag.” Another controversy which Rahul stoked was him paying floral tributes to Pulwama martyrs by offering flowers by the left hand. He was seen holding a bunch of flowers in his right hand but he offered these flowers to the Pulwama martyrs with his left hand. The Congress has been projecting Rahul Gandhi’s Baharat Jodo Yatra a big success but the controversies that were stoked by the scion of Gandhi family created uproar in the country. Everyone is of the unanimous opinion that Rahul’s cutout should not have been higher than the National Flag and he should have not offered the floral tributes to Pulwama martyrs using his left hand. These are basics which a senior leader like Rahul Gandhi should know and understand.
Now, the Yatra has ended and Rahul had announced that he would take a break for some time. After he returns from the break what surprise Rahul will spring remains to be seen.
The Congress has been claiming that Rahul by walking from Kanyakumari to Kashmir has done a wonderful job. But it seems that the Congress leaders need to be reminded that elections are not won by carrying out yatras.
