Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 9: A few days after the Abdullahs threw weight behind Tamil Nadu, Chief, Minister MK Stalin, the National Conference now supports former Congress leader Kipal Sibal, who has recently floated his “Insaaf Ke Sipahi” platform.
The National Conference has formally announced that it would support the platform established by the leader who left Congress in 2022 “following issues with the grand old party.” Former Chief Minister and National Conference, President, Dr Farooq Abdullah and his successor Omar Abdullah both support the platform.
“Dr Farooq welcomes @KapilSibal’s 'Insaaf Ke Sipahi' platform. Says ‘proposed initiative will act as catalyst in bringing opposition parties together for a common cause of fighting injustices, there is nothing better than everyone uniting against injustices’,” the National Conference said.
This was followed by support by Omar Abdullah.
“It’s a very worthwhile initiative announced by @KapilSibal & I hope it grows to become a citizens movement aimed at driving out hatred & injustice,” the former Chief Minister said.
Sibal's new platform "Insaaf ki Sipahi (platform for justice)" is being hailed by a section of politicians in the country.
But the bigger question remains that why would NC support someone having parted ways with the Congress. “See NC has been traditionally supporting the Congress and thus why would the Abdullahs all of sudden support someone who has party ways with the grand old party following issues with the its leadership,” said a political observer.
On March 1 Dr Abdullah dropped a bombshell when he said there were chances for DMK top leader and Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin to become the Prime Minister if Opposition parties come together and win the general election in 2024.
Observers say that Abdullahs want to speak “in way that it doesn’t show NC’s inclination towards one particular political ideology.” “The grand old party of Kashmir wants to keep the people guessing about its actual plans and thus the options look open.”
