Police officer under scanner as BJP MP knocks Raj Bhawan doors
5/22/2023 10:24:26 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 22: A police officer of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police posted in Tosmaidan area of Budgam has come under the scanner for his allegedly corrupt practices as Bharatiya Janta Party Member Parliament, Gulam Ali Khatana has picked up the issue with the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha seeking action. It’s for the first time in the recent past that some senior BJP leader has raised complaint against a police officer and sought intervention of the Raj Bhawan.
“Dear Sh. @manojsinha_ ji, Residents of #Doodhpathri have alleged torture, harrassment & corruption by @BudgamPolice after tribals hosted a function of @BJP4India agnst the wishes of vested interests. You are requested to order action. @KashmirPolice @OfficeOfLGJandK @JmuKmrPolice,” Khatana said while sharing a video.
In the purported video of the Pony Walas, the complainants are leveling serious allegations against one SDPO.
The complainants said things worsened for them only after the MP, Ghulam Ali Khatana visited Doodhpathri and the Pony Walas narrated them their “woeful tale.” The sources said Khatana had assured them of inquiry into the matter but before any probe would be ordered the Pony Walas said “the DySP resorted to their witch-hunt for having spoken the truth before the visiting dignitary.”
Sources said the Government has taken a serious note of the matter and an inquiry was likely to commence in the coming days.
The sources said a formal inquiry would be ordered “mostly likely on May 25 by when the ongoing G20 meet being held in Srinagar will be over.” “This is not a normal complaint but the one made by Honorable MP, so action is expected in the coming days,” said a source in the know of the matter.
Despite repeated attempts, the accused police officer was not available for comments.
Meanwhile the MP has assured the Pony Walas that justice would be delivered to them.
