5/29/2023 10:17:16 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 29: The Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu, has achieved a significant milestone by receiving accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for all five undergraduate engineering courses. GCET Jammu is the first institution in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir to accomplish this feat.
The accreditation highlights GCET's dedication to academic excellence through the establishment of advanced research laboratories, improvement of teaching standards, and comprehensive capacity-building programs for students and staff. Additionally, the institution has gained approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to introduce M.Tech programs in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
NBA accreditation offers numerous benefits for students, as degrees from accredited programs are highly regarded by employers. Accredited institutions are also favored choices for higher education institutions worldwide. Furthermore, accreditation allows GCET to access performance-linked funding and incentives from the central government.
Dr. Sameru Sharma, the Principal of GCET Jammu, expressed gratitude to Mr. Alok Kumar IRS, Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Higher Education, for his continuous guidance and support. Dr. Sharma attributed the accreditation success to the relentless efforts of the faculty and staff, as well as the support from the administrative department.
GCET Jammu is committed to providing top-quality engineering education and fostering research and innovation. The institution actively promotes student-industry interaction, enhances technical skills, and empowers faculty through various initiatives, including Faculty Development Programs.
Dr. Sharma acknowledged the contribution of department heads and members of the IQAC committee, as well as the NBA committee members, for their exceptional work in achieving this accreditation. GCET Jammu's achievements reinforce its commitment to shaping the future engineers of tomorrow.
