Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 29: Rekha Mahajan, BJP District President of Jammu South, emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has prioritized women empowerment and placed 'Nari Shakti' at the forefront of India's development over the last nine years. Speaking at a public outreach program in Gadigarh Mandal, RS Pura Constituency, District Jammu South, Rekha Mahajan presided over the meeting, which was attended by Pt. Ashok Khajuria, District General Secretary Akash Chopra, and Mandal President Vijay Sharma.
During the meeting, Rekha Mahajan urged BJP workers to raise awareness about the public-friendly schemes implemented by the Modi-led government and encourage the residents of Jammu South to take advantage of these schemes. She stated that the nine years of Modi's government have been dedicated to Sewa (service), Sushasan (good governance), and Garib Kalyan (welfare of the poor).
Rekha Mahajan highlighted that the Modi-led government has recognized the need for a comprehensive approach to women empowerment, considering it as a lifelong process. She mentioned that welfare programs for women have been designed to support them at different stages of life, addressing social and economic barriers and promoting their empowerment.
Furthermore, Rekha Mahajan shared significant achievements, such as achieving a ratio of 1,020 women per 1,000 men (NFHS-5) for the first time in India, providing financial support to over 3.03 crore women through PM Matru Vandana Yojana, opening 3.18 crore Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts, and granting more than 27 crores MUDRA loans to women beneficiaries. She also highlighted that nearly 68.9% of the 2.5 crore PM Awas Gramin beneficiaries are women.
Rekha Mahajan praised the central government's policies and social welfare schemes, emphasizing their positive impact on all sections of society, particularly Nari Shakti (women power).
She further mentioned the remarkable progress made in infrastructure development, including the establishment of 111 waterways across the country and the expansion of metro rail networks to 15 additional cities. Rekha Mahajan also acknowledged the government's efforts in healthcare by constructing 15 new AIIMS (All India Institutes of Medical Sciences) in addition to the six previously sanctioned by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
During her visit to Gadigarh, Rekha Mahajan warmly welcomed Gurmeet Kour from NC (National Conference) and several other women who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, expressing her delight at their decision to join the party.
