Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College holds testing workshop

KATHUA, May 29: The Guidance and Counselling Cell of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Kathua, organized a one-day workshop on "Empowering Assessors: Effective Psychological Testing" on 29th May 2023. The workshop aimed to provide teacher-trainees and teacher educators with knowledge on incorporating psychological assessments into their teaching practices.
The workshop began with the lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Bouquets were presented to the Chief Guest, Resource Person, Chairperson of RGMCE, Kathua, special guests, and the Principal of RGMCE, Kathua, as a token of appreciation. Annu Dogra, Chairperson of RGMCE, Kathua, served as the chief patron of the workshop. Prof. Seema Mir, Principal of Govt. Degree College, Kathua, was the chief guest. Dr. Prabjot Kour, HOD Psychology at Govt. Degree College Reasi, served as the Resource Person. Pankaj Dogra, Trustee of RGMCE, Kathua, and Chairperson of Surya College of Education, Kathua, along with Dr. Chaman Singh Thakur, Principal of Surya College of Education, Kathua, and Prof. Shivani Kotwal, HOD English at GDC, Kathua, were the special invited guests. Teacher educators, teacher trainees from seventeen Colleges of Education, and students from two Higher Secondary Schools participated in the workshop.
Dr. Bandana Basin, Principal of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Kathua, delivered the keynote address and extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Resource Person, Chairperson, esteemed dignitaries, and students. She highlighted the workshop's theme, emphasizing that it would provide teacher trainees with an understanding of psychological assessment tools and their administration, supporting students' growth and informing instructional strategies.
In her inaugural speech, Chief Guest Prof. Seema Mir emphasized the importance of Psychological Testing in the day-to-day teaching-learning process and research. She also referenced the NEP-2020 in modern educational systems. Neha Rajput, Assistant Professor at RGMCE, Kathua, presented the formal vote of thanks.
The workshop consisted of two sessions: theoretical and practical. In the first session, Resource Person Dr. Prabjot Kour, HOD Psychology, provided participants with theoretical knowledge about psychological tests, followed by a question-answer session. The scoring procedures and interpretation of the tests were also explained.
The second session involved hands-on activities, where participants were divided into four groups for demonstrations of the tests. All the participants actively engaged in the practical activities, gaining valuable learning experiences.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, during which Ms. Anita Sharma, Assistant Professor at RGMCE, Kathua, presented the workshop report. Dr. Upasana Sharma, a senior faculty member of M.Ed at RGMCE, Kathua, delivered the formal vote of thanks
