Health Department organizes awareness camp at Kastigarh, Thathri

DODA, Oct 19: As a part of its new initiative under, “Our Health- Our Responsibility” Campaign, the Health Department Doda in coordination with different inter-sectoral departments organized mega awareness programmes at Kastigarh and Panchayat Barshalla in District Doda.
In Kastigarh, the awareness programme was held at GHSS Kastigarh, which was graced by DDC Kastigarh, Santosha Devi as Chief Guest and attended by Principal GDC Kastigarh Prof Koshal Kumar, Principal GHSS Kastigarh, Rehmatullah Dev, Sarpanch Kastigarh, Shaheen Begum, representatives from Jal Shakti Deptt, Animal Husbandry Department, Food & Safety Department and WildLife Department besides the staff of PHC Kastigarh, ASHAs, RBSK Teams, Malaria Team, Local NGOs and students of GHSS Kastigarh.
The programme started with the welcome address by BMO Ghat, Dr. Ab Gafoor Ahmed, BMO Thathri, Dr. Shafqat Javed and Epidemiologist, Umar Anayat, who briefed the participants about this new initiative started by the health department in coordination with different inter-sectoral departments and gave detail information about different activities to be conducted under this campaign.
In Thathri, the awareness programme was held at Panchayat Barshalla which was attended by Chairman BDC Gundna, Sarshad Natnoo while BMO Thathri, Dr. Shafqat Javeed, Sarpanch Barshalla, Pooja Sharma, Jonson Chandail (State ASHA Coordinator), BMEO NHM, Mashhood Latief besides RBSK/NCD Team, Local PRIs, ASHAs and prominent locals of the area.
On the occasion, representatives from different departments generated awareness among participants and sensitized them about the food fortification and enrichment process of adding micronutrients to the food for good health, awareness about various zoonotic diseases and it’s prevention, safe drinking water, wild life knowledge and precautions to be taken from wild animals.
Meanwhile, spraying by the Malaria Staff, Testing of Food Items and Water testing from different sources like events were also held in Kastigarh and Barshallah Thathri in a joint venture of different departments and in addition to it, NCD screening, HB testing under Anemia Mukt Bharat and ABHA Ids were also generates during the campaign.
The DDC Kastigarh, Chairman BDC Gundna, PRI members and locals of the area while speaking on the occasion expressed their gratitude to the health department for starting this first of its campaign in the District wherein they lauded their efforts to start an array of different activities under Our Health Our Responsibility Campaign, which proved to be a great success.
