KP migrants in Jammu urge LG Sinha to enhance monthly relief
10/19/2023 10:56:13 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 19: In a relief measure for Kashmiri migrant families residing in New Delhi, Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has approved a substantial enhancement of the Adhoc Monthly Relief (AMR) they receive.
The AMR, which was previously set at Rs 10,000 per month, has now been increased to Rs 27,000 per month, marking a 170 per cent increase.
Kashmiri Pandit migrants in Jammu have welcomed the decision of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and exuded hope that the J&K Lieutenant Governor would also announce a decision on similar lines. “Maximum of the Kashmiri Pandit migrants who were forced to leave Kashmir after terrorism broke out in 1990 have been living in Jammu for the past 33-years,” said a KP migrant Makhan Lal Koul.
He said, “Many among us are suffering from different aliments and are living a miserable life. Our relief should be raised to Rs 27000.”
Another KP migrant Ashok Raina said, “During the past three decades cost of living has increased manifolds and many among us are finding it hard to meet their daily needs. We urge the administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to consider our case and increase our monthly relief.”
He said, “We had to leave everything behind and are still living like refugees in our own land.”
