DDC releases Evaluation Study on State Marriage Assistance Scheme

RAMBAN, Oct 19: District Development Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam today released an Evaluation Study conducted by District Statistics & Evaluation Office, Ramban on State Marriage Assistance Scheme, (SMAS) being implemented by the Social welfare Department here in his office chamber.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal Sharma, CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, District Statistics & Evaluation officer (DSEO) Ganesh, Assistant Director in DSEO, Ashfaq ur Rehman and other staff members of DSEO Office were present on the occasion.
Pertinent to mention here that the main objective of the study was to assess the extent to which the objectives of the schemes have been achieved and also analyze its impact on social-economic upliftment of the targeted beneficiaries.
As many as 355 beneficiaries in the district have received assistance under SMAS during the financial year 2020-21 and 2021-22 and 36 beneficiaries which are the 10% of the total beneficiaries were selected in Tehsil Ramban and Tehsil Banihal by randomization process for conducting of Evaluation. The analysis was further supplemented by ascertaining the suggestions of 10 knowledgeable persons about achievements and shortcomings observed in the implementation of the scheme and suggestions for its effective implementation.
After releasing the study, the District Development Commissioner appreciated the efforts of staff members of DSEO office for conducting and finalizing the said study.
The DDC also highlighted the findings of the study and pointed out the suggestions and recommendations for consideration of the concerned department for better implementation of the scheme which includes timely disbursement of assistance among the eligible beneficiaries under SMAS, regular survey of eligible beneficiaries so that the maximum number of poor girls can get benefit under the scheme, mass awareness camps should be organized at village level besides launching an IEC campaign on social media to aware general public about the scheme.
