GDC Thannamandi hosts induction programme for BA/BSc Semester-I students

JAMMU, Oct 19: Government Degree College Thannamandi organized a special induction programme to warmly welcome the fresh batch of students joining the B.A/B.Sc Semester-I, following the guidelines of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020). The event was conducted under the guidance and patronage of the College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, and witnessed active participation from the college's teaching staff.
The event commenced with an opening address by Dr. Khalid Rayaz, Head of the Department of Geography, who greeted the newcomers with enthusiasm and encouraged them to embrace the values of discipline in their daily lives. Dr. Khalid emphasized the significance of the students' contributions towards the college's development and their roles in nation-building.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed also addressed the gathering, sharing his valuable insights with the students. He motivated them to strive for excellence and pursue their life goals with determination. Prof. Farooq Ahmed shed light on the NEP-2020, highlighting its key principles, as well as the guidelines set forth by the University Grants Commission (UGC). During his speech, Prof. Ahmed stressed the importance of discipline within the college environment. He further outlined the rules and regulations governing the institution. Prof. Ahmed assured students of the college's commitment to supporting their academic and co-curricular growth, fostering an environment conducive to learning and personal development.
The induction programme garnered active participation from almost all staff members of the college, making it a comprehensive introduction for the incoming students.
The event was brought to a close with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Mudassir Majeed, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies. The college administration and faculty members look forward to a successful academic journey for the new students and hope to provide them with guidance, knowledge, and opportunities for their overall development.
