ASCOMS organizes 36th IAP quiz

JAMMU, Oct 19: The Department of Paediatrics at Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu organized the 36th IAP Quiz for undergraduates in the College Auditorium under the supervision of Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta, Professor, and Head of the Department of Paediatrics at ASCOMS. The quiz witnessed enthusiastic participation from final year students, and the event was graced by Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal of ASCOMS.
Four teams of final year students participated in the quiz competition. These teams included:
Sonika Manhas and Mahima Bhat
Mihika Gupta and Mudit Sharma
Ujwal and Chaitnya Kailu
Sharad Chib and Tahir Mushtaq
Sonika Manhas and Mahima Bhat emerged as the winners in a closely contested competition.
Mihika Gupta and Mudit Sharma were the runners-up.
Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal of ASCOMS, commended the efforts of Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta in organizing the flawless quiz competition. He also highlighted the achievements of the paediatrics department, emphasizing Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta's significant role in organizing the IAP Quiz.
Dr. Malhotra shared that Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta began his journey in paediatrics and was the first to initiate the Paediatric Quiz organized by IAP in 1988. He later became the National Coordinator for organizing the IAP Quiz for the next two years.
He encouraged students to participate in academic activities and nurture a competitive spirit without being solely result-oriented. Dr. Malhotra stressed the importance of participation in such events and facing an audience, teachers, seniors, and peers.
He wished the winning team the best of luck for the divisional round, scheduled for October 28, 2023, at ASCOMS.
Dr. Sushil Sharma, Assistant Professor, served as the local quiz coordinator. Several quiz masters, including Dr. Manoj Sharma, Dr. Ifrah, Dr. Shaurya Pratap Singh Blouria, and Dr. Shivam Parihar, were also involved in the scientific activity.
The event was attended by Dr. Rabinder Rattanpal, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Meraj Din Chouhan, DGM (Hosp. Ad. & Audit), senior faculty members, residents, both MBBS and nursing students.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Vikas Sharma and postgraduate students from the Paediatric department.
The participants were felicitated by the chief guest.
