Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 19: A women's weekend commenced in the traditional Dogra style as women in Jammu came together to celebrate "Karwa Chauth Utsav" at the Zone by the Park in Jammu. The event was marked by the ceremonial lighting of a traditional lamp and was graced by the presence of BJP District President Jammu South, Rekha Mahajan, Sanjita Dogra, BJP Mahila Morcha President, Anita Gandotra, Geetanjali Mahajan, Neeru Anand, Poonam Gupta, Pumi Choudhary, Mahila Morcha District President Divya Jain, and other prominent women from the society. The event was organized by the enterprising woman, Divya Abrol.
Rekha Mahajan and Sanjita Dogra, along with a host of other women, came together to celebrate the Karwa Chauth Utsav in a grand and extravagant manner. The event, in collaboration with numerous sponsors, transformed into a carnival-like gathering, adding a sparkle to the festival spirit. This celebration is dedicated to the thousands of strong women and girls who fast for their husbands on Karwa Chauth, which falls on 1 November. The grand event featured a wide range of festive dresses, jewelry, handmade bangles, wedding trousseau packing, handbags, clutches, and other attractive items. Hundreds of women and young girls were seen shopping in their festive attires, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Rekha Mahajan, during her speech at the inauguration of the Karwa Chauth celebration, highlighted the connection between the event and traditional rituals. She praised women for embodying values such as ethics, loyalty, decisiveness, and leadership in various aspects of life. Rekha emphasized that Indian culture and traditions encourage women to contribute to the nation's development under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
She noted the Modi-led government's commitment to empowering women through various government schemes, citing that over 80 percent of loans under the 'Standup India' scheme are in the name of women. Additionally, about 70 percent of loans have been granted to women under the Mudra Yojana. Rekha Mahajan also stressed the vital role of "local vocal" in building the confidence and uplifting women in Jammu and Kashmir under the visionary supervision of Prime Minister Modi.
Rekha Mahajan praised Divya Abrol, the program's organizer, and her team for their efforts and commended young women entrepreneurs who set up stalls featuring locally made products, contributing to the "vocal for local" initiative during the Karwa Chauth festival.
Sanjita Dogra extended her congratulations to the women celebrating the festival and highlighted how such celebrations help people stay firmly rooted in rich cultural traditions. She acknowledged that women today excel in various fields and, in many cases, surpass their male counterparts.
