JKAACL organizes Punjabi Kavi Darbar in Attina; celebrating language, culture | | | Early Times Report
Budgam, Oct 19: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL) orchestrated a vibrant Punjabi Kavi Darbar in the serene village of Attina, located in Budgam District, Kashmir. This event was made possible under the guidance of Sh. Bharat Singh JKAS, the Secretary of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages. The Punjabi Kavi Darbar was graced by esteemed citizens, renowned intellectuals, and a multitude of people who gathered to celebrate the rich culture and language of Punjab. Notable personalities present included S. Prahlad Singh, President of GSSA, and Secretary Popinder Singh GSSA. Sh. Popinder Singh Paras, Editor of Sheeraza Punjabi, also lent his presence to the event. The highlight of the evening was the budding Punjabi poets and artists who passionately presented their poetry, delving into various societal and contemporary life aspects. Their verses resonated with the essence of Punjab’s culture and heritage, making the event a celebration of language and art. The cultural richness extended to a recitation of Gurbani Shabad Kirtan, led by the local Ragi S. Suraj Singh and party, and Tejpal Singh and party. This soulful rendition added a spiritual dimension to the evening, reflecting the diversity of Punjabi culture. S. Manjit Singh, a well-known personality, commended the efforts of JKAACL, especially Secretary Sh. Bharat Singh JKAS and Senior Editor Sheeraza Punjabi Popinder Singh Paras, for their dedication to preserving and promoting regional languages. He emphasized the significant role JKAACL plays in nurturing regional languages, including Punjabi, which is spoken and cherished worldwide. S. Tejpal Singh emphasized the importance of utilizing Punjabi as the mother tongue at the family level, reinforcing the cultural connection. He praised the young poets and writers who presented their work in various shades, showcasing the vibrancy of Punjabi literature. Sh. Popinder Singh Paras, in his address, outlined the Cultural Academy’s plans to host similar literary and cultural activities across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. He underlined the role of JKAACL in providing a platform for emerging poets and artists, ensuring that the rich cultural diversity of the region thrives among the younger generation. He also emphasized the need to organize such programs in remote areas where traditional folk culture and language are prevalent. |
