GDC Neeli nallah Udhampur inspires environmental consciousness

UDHAMPUR, Dec 13: In a commendable effort to foster environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices, Government Degree College Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized an Essay Writing Competition centered around the theme of "Environmental Sustainability." This event was held as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra @2047 initiative, under the proficient guidance of Prof. Hans Raj, the Principal of the college.
The program commenced with a keynote address by Prof. Hans Raj, who emphasized the significance of such awareness programs in enlightening students about pressing environmental issues. In the context of Viksit Bharat, where India aims to achieve developed nation status by 2047, Prof. Hans Raj underscored the importance of leveraging the demographic dividend and channeling resources toward sustainable development. The Essay Writing Competition witnessed active participation from numerous students who demonstrated their zeal and enthusiasm for addressing environmental concerns through the written word. Prof. Hans Raj expressed his optimism that such initiatives play a crucial role in instilling awareness among students and fostering a sense of responsibility toward burning environmental issues.
The results of the competition were announced, with Rimjim Sharma securing the 1st position, Himanshi Sharma earning the 2nd position, and Suhani Rajput achieving the 3rd position. The deserving winners were recognized for their efforts and commitment to addressing environmental sustainability through their essays, receiving certificates as tokens of appreciation.
Dr. Sunil Tanoch, the convenor of the program, played a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of the competition. The organizing committee, comprised of Prof. Rekha Sharma, Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Dr. Mahima Bhagat, and Miss Swati Sharma, contributed significantly to the success of the event.
The Essay Writing Competition at GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur served as an effective platform to engage students in thoughtful discourse on environmental sustainability, aligning with the broader goals of Viksit Bharat @2047. The event not only encouraged academic excellence but also instilled a sense of environmental consciousness among the participating students, paving the way for a more sustainable and responsible future.
