Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 13: The Economic Offences Wing – Crime Branch Jammu has filed a 224-page charge-sheet against the proprietors of M/S Sai Agro Food Industry, Munish Verma (son of Batuk Nath) and Babita Verma (wife of Munish Verma), both residents of D-45/24 Ramapura, Nai Basti, Luxa Varanasi, U.P. The charge-sheet, filed in connection with FIR No. 40/2023 under sections 420 and 120-B IPC, pertains to allegations of criminal conspiracy and cheating against the accused.
The case originated from a written complaint lodged by Sunny Dogra, a sales representative of M/s Sai Agro Food Industry, alleging that M/s Mahajan Agency, a trading firm dealing in FMCG products in Udhampur, was cheated of Rs 3.25 Lakhs. The accused, Munish Verma and Babita Verma, lured M/S Mahajan Agency into placing an order for 500 cases/units of products and then allegedly deceived them.
During the preliminary verification, the allegations were prima-facie substantiated, leading to the formal registration of a case for an in-depth investigation. The accused, operating under the sole proprietorship of Mrs. Babita in Varanasi, jointly managed by Mr. Munish Verma, allegedly executed a fraudulent scheme to entice traders and businessmen into placing orders and extracting money.
Material evidence in the form of documentary records, along with statements from complainants and witnesses, was collected during the investigation.
It was found that the accused deliberately cheated and duped M/s Mahajan Agency of their hard-earned money on the pretext of providing food items.
The accused managed anticipatory bail but failed to cooperate with the investigation, leading to the cancellation of their bail by the Hon’ble Court.
Raids were subsequently conducted to arrest the accused, and the final report has been presented before the Hon’ble Court. The charge-sheet highlights the allegations of cheating and criminal conspiracy, emphasizing the commitment of the Economic Offences Wing – Crime Branch Jammu to address financial fraud and malpractices.
