Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 16: AIIMS Jammu, under the esteemed leadership of Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, is spearheading a transformative journey towards women's empowerment, embodying the principles of equality, inclusivity, and societal progress. In a recent conversation, Prof Gupta emphasized the pivotal role of women in society and outlined the institution's comprehensive efforts to promote their holistic development and well-being.
Recognizing the imperative for women's empowerment in a country where approximately half the population comprises women, AIIMS Jammu has taken proactive steps to create an enabling environment for women's advancement. With nearly 55% of doctors and 80% of nursing staff being women, the institution has shattered traditional gender norms and provided equal opportunities for women in the field of medicine.
Beyond mere representation, AIIMS Jammu has demonstrated its commitment to promoting women's leadership by appointing women to key administrative positions and leadership roles in research activities. The institution has also organized Healthcare Leadership Management Development Programmes specifically for female staff, ensuring their professional growth and empowerment.
In addition to internal initiatives, AIIMS Jammu actively engages in community outreach programs focused on women's health awareness. These initiatives include sessions on cervical and breast cancer prevention, anaemia awareness, and basic life support training, aimed at empowering women with knowledge and skills to safeguard their health and well-being.
Looking ahead, AIIMS Jammu plans to establish a creche facility to support working mothers in balancing their professional and caregiving responsibilities, further fostering a supportive work environment. By integrating various initiatives under the National Health Mission, the institution remains dedicated to advancing a healthier, more equitable society.
In a heartfelt message to women, Prof Gupta reaffirmed AIIMS Jammu's unwavering commitment to their health and well-being, emphasizing the collective responsibility towards gender equality and empowerment. He expressed gratitude for the invaluable contributions of women in his personal and professional life, underscoring their role as catalysts for societal progress.
In conclusion, AIIMS Jammu's steadfast dedication to women's empowerment stands as a beacon of hope, echoing the sentiments of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam that empowering women is indispensable for nation-building and societal stability. Through its visionary initiatives and unwavering commitment, AIIMS Jammu is paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future, where women thrive and society flourishes.
