Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 14: In a bid to equip students with essential skills for navigating their financial futures confidently, GCW Bhagwati Nagar recently hosted a comprehensive Financial Literacy Program under the mentorship of Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol. Recognizing the increasing importance of financial literacy in today's dynamic economic landscape, the Department of Commerce and Career Counseling Cell collaborated to provide students with tools and resources necessary for making informed financial decisions.
Sponsored by NISM Mumbai and AXIS Bank Limited, the program covered various crucial aspects including awareness of security markets and SEBI, mutual funds, career opportunities in the security market, and precautions for investing. Led by expert Mr. Bhagwant Singh, retired Principal from the School Education Department, the interactive session provided practical insights and actionable strategies for achieving financial wellness.
Singh emphasized that promoting financial literacy empowers students to take control of their financial lives, paving the way for long-term success and security. Real-world scenarios and case studies relevant to students' lives were incorporated into the program, fostering critical thinking and decision-making skills. Additionally, students were granted access to online resources, tools, and personalized guidance to further enhance their financial literacy journey.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Coordinator IQAC of the college, while the program was organized by Dr. Pavan Jeet Bali and Dr. Preeti Salathia from the Department of Commerce, along with Dr. Kamalpreet Singh from the Department of Punjabi. The program was skillfully anchored by Lecturer Mehmood Ahmed.
This initiative underscores GCW Bhagwati Nagar's commitment to holistic student development, ensuring that graduates are equipped not only with academic knowledge but also with vital life skills necessary for success in today's world.
