Sadhotra flags off Guru Ravidass Ji Shobha Yatra at Karwanda, calls for social justice

JAMMU, Feb 8: Paying tributes to great saint and social reformer Guru Ravidass Ji on his Jayanti, National Conference Additional General Secretary and Former Minister Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today called for imbibing the spirit of selflessness and righteousness as preached by saints and sages from times immemorial, saying camaraderie and fellow feelings are imperative for the harmonious growth of society.
"Guru Ravidass Ji taught and preached about the importance compassion and equality which remain core of the human dignity", Mr Sadhotra said while Flagging off a Shobha Yatra at Karwanda in Jammu North Assembly Constituency to celebrate the Jayanti of Guru Ravidass ji which was organized by Parshotam Lal Thappa President Guru Ravidass Satsang Society Karwanda and his team. Mr Sadhotra said that best way of celebrating the occasion is to take a pledge to follow his teachings in letter and spirit and work for building a society based on the natural principles of social justice, equality, compassion, love and togetherness.
Former Minister said the life and teachings of Guruji have inspired the generations and helped in transforming the society, making it conducive for various communities, irrespective of cast, creed and colour. He said the relevance of the teaching of the great saint and philosopher assume significance now, as never before, since the society at large is confronted with a challenge from elements inimical to amity and brotherhood between various segments of people. To eschew the tendencies of intolerance and hatred, there is immense need of generating awareness about the unity and diversity as professed by religious scholars and sages from time to time, he maintained.
Dwelling upon the life and teachings of Guruji, Mr Sadhotra recalled his eventful life and said he emerged as a beacon light at a time when the society was engulfed by darkness. "Those were the times when fellow human beings were being discriminated on the basis of caste and creed", he said and referred to the great role played by the Guruji in ensuring that all segments of the society live with honour and dignity.
Mr Sadhotra said the teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji changed the perspectives of people and brought them to the right path in life. The National Conference Additional General Secretary made a fervent appeal to devotees joining the Shobha Yatra to act upon and spread the message of love, peace and compassion, which was the high point of Guruji's life. Prominent among those who joined the Shobha Yatra included S/Sh Capt Behari Lal Ji Thappa, Master Sunil Thappa, Rattan Lal, Krishan Lal Chalotra, Pt Ved Parkash Sharma, Subash Choudhary, Ashu Soodan Ex-Panch, Sat Pal, Ashok Kumar Ex-Panch.
