Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 5: Continuing massive crackdown on tax evasion, Jammu and Kashmir State Taxes Department (STD) today initiated proceedings against two traders for not maintaining bills books as per GST norms during inspection drives in Jammu and Udhampur districts of Jammu division.
As per officials, in Jammu, enforcement team led by State Taxes Officer (STO) visited ten business units dealing with hardware, electric good and construction items in the Circle R.
The team checked invoices and e-way bills for movement of vehicles. During inspection, the team noticed that two bill books presented by the dealer had blank invoices. The team seized both bill books and intimated concerned circle officer for further proceedings.
In Udhampur, the enforcement teams visited five business units and found one trader, dealing with Mobile phones and accessories, not issuing e-invoicing as per GST norms, besides not producing valid purchase documents with GST number. The team warned the dealer and also intimated concerned Circle to initiate proceedings.
Moreover, the enforcement teams also addressed the doubts of traders on the spot regarding many issues related to e-invoicing, e-way bills, GST filing etc.
The department further urged the dealers to follow the fair-trade practices and avoid indulging in tax evasion activities or fraudulent practices involving fake ITC.
The entire drive was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner State Taxes J&K, P K Bhat and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Enforcement and Administration Jammu, Namrita Dogra
