NC’s ‘giant slayer’ MLA Mushtaq Guroo says he won elections by dismantling political party

Jammu, Mar 12: The first-time MLA of the National Conference from Srinagar’s Channapora Assembly segment, Mushtaq Guroo, is annoyed over not being given adequate time to speak in the House.
As he was first-time given an opportunity to speak in the House on demand for grant on Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Mushtaq Guroo could not control his emotion as well as anger.
“First of all, I want to thank the Speaker of the Assembly for giving me an opportunity to speak for the first time in the august House. I wanted to speak also on budget but I was not given an opportunity”, Guroo said.
Before concluding his speech, Mushtaq Guroo told the House that he is not a member of this august House due to nomination. “I am a member of this House with the support and blessing of the people of Channapora who elected me as their representative”, he said.

oo said that he has won the election by dismantling a political party.
He was referring to his rival Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, founder of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on the Channapora Assembly segment.
In a keenly watched electoral battle, Mushtaq Guroo emerged the “Gaint Killer” by defeating Altaf Bukhari from his seat. Guroo secured 13717 votes, while Altaf Bukhari got 8029 votes.
Annoyed Guroo further said that he has given 10 questions related to the peoples’ issues in the Assembly, but none of the questions has been taken for discussion in the ongoing session.
Mushtaq Guroo is also a business tycoon. In addition to his legislative role, he has served as the Political Advisor to the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah since 2018. He is the Second richest MLA of Jammu & Kashmir who has assets worth 94-crore. He is the owner of Shuhul Group of Companies. He is also known as the King of the Automotive Sector in J&K.
