Jammu, June 15: The Indian Yoga Association (IYA), a nationally renowned body devoted to the promotion of yoga for the past 17 years under the divine guidance of Swami Chidanand Saraswati Ji, National Chairman (Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh), and the able leadership of Shri Subodh Tiwari Ji, Secretary General (IYA) and CEO of Kaivalyadhama, Lonavla-Pune, proudly celebrated International Day of Yoga (IDY) at Rana Rajinder Singh Park, Rehari, Jammu. The event was held under the visionary direction of Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, State Chairman (J&K) and State Yoga Commissioner. The serene atmosphere of the park resonated with yogic energy as a large number of yoga enthusiasts gathered early morning to participate in this meaningful celebration. Shri Sudha Chander Sharma, Joint Secretary of IYA J&K and President of Jammu District Patanjali Yogpeeth, warmly welcomed the participants and introduced the dignitaries gracing the stage. The event was presided over by Shri Ashok Gupta, and the Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain. The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Dr. S. K. Jain, who spoke profoundly on the importance and relevance of yoga in daily life. He emphasized the holistic development of the human being through yoga—encompassing the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions. He conducted a detailed and engaging yoga session including standing, sitting, and supine asanas such as Tadasana, Trikonasana, Utkatasana, Hastapadasana, Vajrasana, Bhujangasana, Ustrasana, Makarasana, Paschimottanasana and Shavasana. Dr. Jain further guided the gathering through various pranayama techniques like Deep Breathing, Anulom Vilom, Sheetali, and Sheetkari, followed by a focused meditation session. He explained the concept, process, and benefits of meditation, defining it as a tool for cultivating equanimity, reducing stress, anxiety, and insomnia, and enhancing clarity in decision-making. Shri Ashok Gupta appreciated the inclusion of Laughter Yoga and Clapping Yoga, highlighting their effectiveness in promoting mental well-being and community bonding. Special coordination for the event was handled by Mrs. Swati Sharma, with key support from Mrs. Madhu Sharma, Smt. Sushma Jamwal, Neha Ji, and Diptee Sharma, who played vital roles in organizing and facilitating the smooth conduct of the program. The event concluded with a collective pledge to integrate yoga into daily life for better health, harmony, and holistic wellness.
