Farmers as proud stakeholders
6/15/2025 11:34:56 PM
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently termed the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan a transformative step towards building a resilient, modern, and prosperous agricultural landscape in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the closing ceremony of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan the Lieutenant Governor commended the valuable contribution of everyone associated with the initiative. “Our ultimate goal is to make every farmer in J&K UT a proud stakeholder in India’s journey toward becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
He stressed on the need of making farmers a part of development with dignity so that every village becomes a symbol of “Naya Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan has been a transformative initiative. It brought together government institutions, agricultural scientists, extension workers, and farmers on a common platform to address the longstanding challenges faced by the agrarian community. From access to quality seeds, improved irrigation, modern farming techniques, crop diversification, to agri-marketing and storage solutions—every aspect of the farming value chain was touched upon under this mission.
The campaign was not just an information drive, but a genuine grassroots movement to awaken potential and foster self-reliance among the region’s farmers.
LG Sinha rightly emphasized that farmers should be a part of development with dignity. This is a crucial point. The true measure of progress is not merely in economic growth but in ensuring that every farmer feels respected, heard, and integrated into the larger development discourse. When villages are empowered through agriculture-led development, they become symbols of resilience and, self-reliance.
The transformation of agriculture also includes promoting entrepreneurship in the rural economy. From value-added processing to organic farming and climate-resilient agriculture, the possibilities are vast. It is time to make agriculture aspirational for the next generation, and this campaign could well be the starting point.
As the nation moves toward the centenary of its independence in 2047, initiatives like Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan serve as vital building blocks in realizing the dream of a developed, inclusive, and empowered India. Jammu and Kashmir, with its immense potential and committed leadership, can lead by example—turning its villages into engines of growth and its farmers into proud symbols of national progress.
