Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 30: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Saturday stressed on importance of maintaining strict vigil in border areas and reiterated that J&K police stands firmly with all sister agencies to strengthen border security.
In a statement a Police spokesman said the DGP, accompanied by DIG JSK Shiv Kumar Sharma and SSP Kathua Shobhit Saxena, visited border district Kathua to review the security scenario in the wake of the damage caused by incessant flooding. Senior officers of BSF, CRPF, and J&K Police also joined the review.
During the visit, DGP Prabhat inspected the Lakhanpur–Madhopur bridges that had suffered damage due to flash floods. The SSP Pathankot and the SP Traffic Punjab were also present during the inspection.
The DGP later held a detailed review with officials on the traffic situation along the Punjab border and interacted with NHAI authorities regarding ongoing restoration work.
At a BSF Border Outpost (BOP), the DGP was briefed by senior BSF officers on the loss of property along the International Border due to the floods. He also visited forward areas to assess the damage firsthand and interacted with BSF personnel actively engaged in relief and rescue operations.
Reaffirming the commitment of the J&K Police, DGP Prabhat said that all security agencies will work in close coordination to ensure robust border management and seamless relief measures in flood-affected areas.
