Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Sept 1: Continuing its relentless action against narcotics, Udhampur Police registered 85 cases under the NDPS Act from January to August 2025. A total of 124 drug peddlers were arrested, including 114 under NDPS and 10 under PIT NDPS/PSA. 36 vehicles used in narcotic smuggling were seized, and 07 pharmacy shops were sealed for violating H1 drug norms. Financial action led to the freezing of 54 bank accounts linked to drug traffickers, involving ?17,47,812. Narcotics worth ?5.69 crore were seized, including heroin, charas, poppy straw, and ganja. Further strengthening enforcement, property worth ?5.27 crore was attached under NDPS provisions- including trucks, cars, bikes, flats, houses, and land. Additionally, 2 kanal 10 marla of illicit opium cultivation was destroyed in Panchari. Professional investigation and prosecution led to 35 convictions in 26 cases, reflecting Udhampur Police's firm commitment towards a drug-free society. |
