Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: Red Ribbon Club, GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized multifarious activities regarding the celebration of World AIDS Day. The activities were conducted under the esteemed guidance of the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora. The event commenced with poster making competition on 15th of December 2025 which brought together students from various semesters, offering them a creative platform to express awareness, empathy and responsibility around HIV/AIDS. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students using colours, symbols and strong messages to highlight prevention, stigma reduction and the importance of informed choices. Each poster reflected not only artistic skill but also a clear understanding of the social and health-related dimensions of HIV/AIDS. About 14 students participated in the competition showcasing their posters depicting awareness about HIV/AIDS, the importance of prevention and early testing, the need to eliminate stigma and discrimination, and the message of compassion and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. Sharuti Sharma, Sharuti Anthal and Mehak of Semester 1st, secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. On 16th of December 2025, an awareness lecture was delivered by Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Convenor Red Ribbon Club. He said that Awareness, prevention, and compassion are the most effective tools in the fight against HIV/AIDS. A rally was also flagged off from the college premises on 18th of December 2025, that aimed to educate the public on the causes, prevention, and treatment of HIV/AIDS, while encouraging compassion and support for those affected. Participants carried placards and banners displaying awareness messages and slogans emphasizing safe practices and social responsibility. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal highlighted that such initiatives not only spread awareness but also nurture empathy, responsibility and informed thinking among our youth. She further appreciated the students for their sincere efforts and emphasized the relevance of youth involvement in spreading correct information and compassionate attitudes towards people living with HIV/AIDS. All participants were felicitated with certificate of appreciation. Others present were Prof. Rekha Sharma, Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Nishi Slathia, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Beigh, Dr. Aashiq Hussain and Dr. Arif Malik. |
