Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 4: The union government has an uphill task in hand- to get the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir along with its people from abject poverty and reverse the previous trends that kept showing JK as one of the poorest states of India. As per the official documents, the poverty has been an inseparable feature of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947 and the successive regimes made little effort to ensure that the people reeling under duress could witness any dawn of prosperity. BPL estimated ratio of Jammu and Kashmir are at at 21.63 percent which comprise of 24.21 lakh of which 26.14percent (22.00 lakh persons) are from rural areas and 7.96 percent (2.21 lakh persons) are living in urban areas. According to the union government's survey, the absolute poverty has shown an increase from 19.05 lakh rural, 1.86 lakh urban and 20.92 lakh combined in 1993-94 to 22 lakh, 2.21 lakh and 24.21 lakh respectively till in 2007-08. Agencies NEW DELHI, Oct 4: The NIA Friday filed a supplementary charge sheet before a Delhi court against JKLF chief Yasin Malik and four other Kashmiri separatists, including a woman accused Asiya Andrabi, for allegedly conspiring to wage a war against the central government by carrying out terrorist and secessionist activities. The charge sheet, running into 3,000 pages, claimed that Pakistan High Commission supported the separatists through transfer of funds via financial conduits to create unrest in the Kashmir valley.
