TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Stone pelters, not nationalists are dear to Government
2/13/2019 11:55:45 PM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 13: It seems that government goes soft against anti-nationals and stone pelters by preferring them over nationalistic forces. This could be gauged that government has initiated several programmes where the stone pelters and anti-nationals have been given preferences over other youth. Take for instance, Government has constituted 'district level task forces' for engagement of youth in sports to stop them from diverting towards other activities. An official document of divisional commissioner Kashmir office reveals that task forces would identify the gaps with regard to sports, cultural, and infrastructure. They have to "prepare calendar of the activities for purpose of youth engagement/sports that could bring out a change on the ground to make them useful instruments of change and also to ensure furtherance of sports/cultural activities". The documents say that district development commissioner Srinagar has recommended that "special focus needs to be placed on the down town where majority of the population lives, which has been adversely affecte...

Was changing names of places in Kashmir not an assault on Indian culture?
Mehbooba doesn't know what she says
2/13/2019 11:55:37 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 13: Reacting to the UP government changing names of places, including Mughalserai and Faizabad, former BJP-made J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti has said that "name changing is an attempt to demolish the idea of India we grew up wit; it's an assault on the country's Ganga Jamuna culture and trying to tell Muslims they don't belong here, and but be sure it is as much my country as yours". It's obvious that she conveniently overlooked what happened under the nose of her father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and under her own nose. After throwing out the miniscule minority of Kashmiri Hindus out of the Valley, the fanatics and had changed the names of many places, including th...
