After lapse of two and half months, Law Commission recommendations on amendment in SRO-202 gather dust

Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 1: The recommendations, of Law Commission for making amendments in SRO-202, also called the new job policy, have reportedly been gathering dust as no action has been taken by government after the lapse of over two and half months. The Law Commission of Jammu and Kashmir headed by retired Justice MK Hanjura had taken suo-moto cognizance of the SRO-202 and had submitted his recommendations to the Chief Secretary for making amendments in the SRO. The recommendations were submitted by Law Commission in mid of November 2010 and it was recommended for reduction of probation period of employees engaged under new job policy (SRO-202) from five years to two years. It had also recommended that the government employees, who have completed two years of probation on the date of the promulgation of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019, may be regularized subject to the conditions laid down in the SRO. As per the reports, the central government may announce the Dearness Allowance (DA) for the Central Government employees after the Union Budget 2020. This time, central government employees are expecting their H1-2020 DA hike by at least 4 per cent. Sources told Early Times that as per rule of the Jammu and Kashmir Financial Code, the department, should have detailed rules and instructions contained in its departmental regulations for large purchases. Agencies New Delhi, Feb 1: The government has allocated Rs 30,757 crore for the newly created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the Budget for 2020-21 presented by Union Finance Minister NirmalaSitharaman on Saturday. The government has provisioned Rs 279 crore as the contribution to Union Territory Disaster Response Fund while Rs 30,478 has been allocated for meeting its resource gap, the Budget document said. Another Union Territory, Ladakh, which was carved out of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, has been allocated Rs 5,958 crore in the Budget.
