First-time in J&K history, political party collapses without contesting polls

Early Times Report Jammu, July 17: The merger of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Movement (JKPM) with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has scripted a new chapter in political history as it was the first political party that was formed and finished without contesting any election. With much fanfare and publicity, the JKPM was launched on March 17, 2019, by IAS officer Shah Faesal with a promise of an “end to a corrupt system and work towards a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue.” Hundreds of his supporters thronged the launch venue in Srinagar’s Rajbagh chanting the party slogan: ‘ Ab Hawah Badlegi’ (Now winds will change directions). Shah Faesal was joined by former minister Javed Mustafa Mir and JNU leader Sheila Rashid.
