Bureaucrats mislead LG Sinha yet again
‘Common man, his children can’t play golf, it’s an expensive sport’
8/23/2021 11:56:28 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 23: In yet another instance of bureaucrats misleading J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, officials are making him believe that everyone, including children of poor people can play golf. Golf is one of the most expensive sports as it cannot be played without the help of caddies and the small vehicles that are needed for a player to move from one spot to another. The golf playing kit costs a fortune and it’s impossible for a common man to afford such an expensive kit. In July this year LG Sinha launched one of the oldest golf clubs in Srinagar. He announced that a similar golf academy with national-level training facilities will be launched in Jammu soon as J&K aspires to be the golfing capital of the country. “We have made golf accessible to the common man. It is no longer the game of the elite,” the LG had said. An observer while talking to Early Times said, “It appears that LG Sinha was fed with wrong information by the officials around him. “It takes 2 hours to play nine holes and more than 4 hours to play 18 holes. We don’t see commoners...

People forced to purchase construction materials at exorbitant rate
8/23/2021 11:56:13 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 23: Notwithstanding the rate fixed by the administration, mining-mafia are charging at an extortionate price of construction materials from the common people. It is all due to the patronage of some Babus, who have given free hand to the mining mafia to extract sand and related materials from anywhere, that there is no check on rates of building materials especially sand, gravels and Bajri. Wishing anonymity a tipper owner told the Early Times that they have to give ‘entry’ to different departments so it is difficult rather impossible to sell construction material as per the rates fixed by the authorities. Shockingly except for issuing an order to fix rat...
