Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 31: With the senior leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party staying away from the party activities, the junior leaders, who have even not contested any elections in the past, have been running the show. Ahead of senior Bharatiya Janta Pary leader Ram Madhav’s visit to Kashmir, apparently in a bid to grab his attention, the PDP held a symbolic protest demonstration in Srinagar. The protest demonstrations were led by five lesser known faces putting the Jammu and Kashmir Police to unwanted task of tackling them. Sources said the part was desperate to show its strength in Kashmir ahead of Madhav’s visit but that no senior leader came forward whereas interestingly the visiting leader held deliberations with senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig. Sources said barring one middle rung leader from Tral, others from PDP who attended the protests were mainly from Srinagar. Police took them into preventive custody. The number of positive cases of virus is 37,698 as 535 fresh cases were reported today. Srinagar, Jammu and Kupwara districts reported two fresh deaths of COVID-19 death followed by a death each in Pulwama, Anantnag and Doda districts.
