Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 28: In the wake of sudden spike in the militancy related incidents in Kashmir, the inhabited banks of river Jhelum in the summer capital have come under scanner of the security agencies. Sources said in the last few months, the security forces have undertaken numerous Cordon and Search Operations in the summer capital of Srinagar along the banks of this river. Sources said the security establishment has inputs that terror groups were trying to create base on the banks of Jhelum especially in the civil lines. “They want to establish sleeper cells on the banks of Jhelum,” said a source in the establishment on the condition of anonymity. Sources said though intelligence agencies have been getting frequent inputs about possible presence of militants along the river banks, till now any breakthrough is awaited. “There have been CASOs in the areas especially along the banks between Poloview and Amira Kadal but till any major breakthrough is awaited,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
