100% electrification of J&K villages a ‘blatant lie’

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 5: Officials of the Power Development Department (PDD) had allegedly tricked the Government of India (GoI) by claiming that they have completed 100 percent electrification of villages in Jammu and Kashmir. However, till date the process has not been completed. It’s in place to mention here that on February 27, 2019, the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir bagged ‘Saubhagya Excellence Award’ for being the first state in the country to achieve 100% household electrification under the ‘Saubhagya’ scheme. The award for achieving cent percent household electrification was presented by the Union Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, R. K. Singh to representatives of J&K during the ‘Power Ministers’ Conference’ held in New Delhi. The award of highest order amounting to Rs 100 crore was given as a grant to J&K State to be spent in distribution infrastructure development. Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 5: Nearly three weeks after the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district was reopened for pilgrimage, the shrine board has increased the quota for pilgrims from outside the Union Territory to 500 daily. "The pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine is proceeding smoothly and picking up pace with each passing day. Keeping this in view, the quota of pilgrims from outside Jammu and Kashmir has been enhanced to 500 per day, out of a ceiling of 2,000 daily, till further orders," Ramesh Kumar, the Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, said on Saturday. Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 5: Jammu district continues to witness a spike in Corona Virus cases as 520 more people from the district got affected by the virus today. In total 1251 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Jammu & Kashmir with 15 more deaths taking place today. As on date the total number of positive cases in the union territory is 42,241 with the number of casualties being 770. Today Jammu district reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by three deaths in Kathua district and Srinagar district two deaths.
