Wives of village heads getting 'widow pensions', young political activists getting 'old age pensions'

SRINAGAR, May 18: Major scam has surfaced in Social Welfare Department wherein influential people in nexus with concerned officials are receiving old age Pensions, widow fund and monthly allowances under Militancy related victim (MRV) Schemes".
The Documents in possession of Early Times reveals that one Hadeesa Begum, 35, wife of a Village head Ghulam Hassan Dar of village Badibug of Tehsil Pattan is receiving monthly widow pension of rupees 200 in her account number SB-0260040000002372 from Social Welfare office Pattan .
Kulsooma, 35, wife of a Numberdar, namely Ghulam Muhammad Dar of Badibug village is receiving monthly allowance of rupees 400 as old age Pension under account number SB-3881. Another influential person Ghulam Hussain Dar Son of Ahmad Dar aged 42 of Badibug village also receives monthly allowance of rupees 400 under account number SB-2024 due to his influence in the area. It does not stop here as according to sources some influential people in nexus with officials of the Concerned Department have created many fake accounts to receive monthly allowances under different schemes like one unknown woman named as Khatija has been shown as wife of one Ghulam Ahmad Malla of Badibug and monthly widow pension of Rs. 200 is withdrawn from the said fake account under bank account number SB-2376.
Another fake account of one unknown woman Fehmeeda Jan daughter of Muhammad Bakir Jan who has been shown as resident of Badibug Village receives monthly allowance of rupees 400 under account number SB-9433 and according to sources thousands of Rupees are withdrawn from similar other fake accounts annually from the Social welfare office of Pattan Tehsil of Baramullah.
Another fraud account through which money is withdrawn under old age pension scheme includes one Ghulam Mustafa son of Muhammad Ibrahim of Badibug village,Tehsil Pattan bearing Account number SB-8292-F, However according to sources there is nobody in whole of Tehsil Pattan of Baramullah District bearing this name and residential address, hence this account is also fake. The details reveal that another account through which monthly allowance of rupees 400 is withdrawn under account number SB-76-R is also fake.
One young influential person aged 35 years namely Muhammad Jafar allaie son of Qazim Allaie according to documentary evidence also receives monthly allowance of rupees 400 as old age pension under account number SB-6992 and according to sources despite the fact everything is known to concerned officials, they are yet to take any action against anybody.
Documentary evidence reveals that one noted political activist of Singpora who according to sources has nobody in family affected due to militancy but due to political influence he like many others also receives monthly allowance of rupees 750 under account number SB-7258 as militancy related victim (MRV) and though everything is known to officials concerned, yet nobody dares to take any action against him.
Credible Sources informed Early Times that some noted officials working in the said Social Welfare Department have created many fake accounts of their family members as well and are withdrawing thousands of rupees monthly under different centrally sponsored Schemes. Meanwhile, despite repeated attempts Director Social Welfare did not pick up the phone; however, District Social Welfare officer Baramaullah, Dr Zubair Ahmad said that action shall be taken against the guilty in all such cases if proved".
