Kishtwar, June 22: The two days annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Mohammad Fareed ud Din Baghdadi (RTA) today concluded at Kishtwar with record number of pilgrims visit the shrine of 17th Century Sufi saint situated at the in the down town area of Kishtwar town in Ward No. 1 of Kishtwar Municipality.
The Urs which was officially declared yesterday completed today evening with huge number of pilgrims participated in night long special prayers followed by morning assembly in which the pilgrims from different parts of the state and outside the state offered the prayers for the peace, prosperity and welfare of the people. Due to heavy rush of the pilgrims, the hotels and government guest houses remained fully occupied which people across the length and breadth of Kishtwar town open their doors for the visiting pilgrims while the mosques and schools were also thrown open for the pilgrims while several pilgrims spent their nights in open at Chowghan ground Kishtwar.
The visiting pilgrims called upon the government for creating infrastructure and accommodation facilities for the visting pilgrims beside also calls for promoting the two shrines of Shah Fareed Ud Din Baghdadi and Shah Asrar u Din Baghdadi under Tourism pilgrimage sites.
The Pilgrims who travelled from outside the state said that there is lot of scope for promoting the Kishtwar shrines as "pilgrimage Tourism" site added that with the upgradatation of facilities, more pilgrims will visit Kishtwar in future.
It is pertinent to mention that 17th century marked the prominence of Sufism in Chenab valley owing to the arrival of Hazrat Shah Mohammed Farid-ud-Din Baghdadi (RTA) and his two sons Hazrat Shah Asrar-ud-din (RTA) and Hazrat Shah Akhyar-ud-din (RTA). However, Sufism had already been introduced in Chenab valley by other saints, including Hazrat Shah Hamdan (RTA), Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani (RTA) and Hazrat Zain-ul-abedeen Rishi (RTA). These Saints exposed the basic tenets of Islam to people and urged them to be awakened out of the ignorance owing to blind pursuit of ritualism and also illiteracy. These great souls exposed people to Tawhid or monotheism (oneness of Allah). They urged people to read the Koran and the Hadith. The mausoleums of these revered Masters have been flock by people across the world for spiritual salvation and prosperity in life.
