Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 22: Stating that the separatists were ready for talks, the Governor SP Malik yet again showed his presence of mind in exposing the anti-national forces and leaving them red-faced.
The Governor said that Hurriyat was "ready for talks with the government."
He said that earlier Hurriyat leaders were shutting doors for the government on talks. "(But now) It is the same Hurriyat that once were shutting their doors to government now are ready for talks," Malik said while addressing a event at SKICC here.
The Governor "hailed" the recent statement of Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in which he expressed concern over drug abuse in Kashmir.
It is pertinent to mention that for the last two weeks, the Mirwaiz has shifted focus of his Friday speeches to non-political issues.
On the recent Friday, the Mirwaiz spoke about how drug-abuse has gripped Kashmir and that the administration should act tough against the drug mafia.
On the previous Friday, the Mirwaiz had spoken about the flood threat in Kashmir and how "both the people and the government were responsible for it."
He said that rains make Kashmir more accident prone as the people have encroached upon water bodies.
It is pertinent to mention that Mirwaiz was recently questioned by the National investigation Agency in the national capital.
After failing to appear before the investigation agency in the terror funding case despite two summons, the Mirwaiz had finally appeared before them in New Delhi.
It is pertinent to mention that the government has tightened noose around the separatists and other anti-India forces in Kashmir.
A few months ago, the security provided to Mirwaiz and other leaders was withdrawn by the Modi government.
Some of the senior Hurriyat leaders have already been jailed I connection with the terror funding and other anti-national cases.
