Kishtwar, June 22: After brief encounter between the Militants and the security forces in Nagnigard area of Keshwan Friday afternoon and slipping away of the Militants, the army today pressed Sniffer dogs into service as a massive search operation to track down suspected militants in a forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district continued for the second day on Saturday.
As per the details available with "Early Times" Army and police had launched a search operation in the forest area near Keshwan village early on Friday following information about the movement of suspected militants.
As reported by Early Times, brief gunfight took place between the militants and the search parties on Friday and it is believed that one of them got injured, but he managed to flee along with his accomplices deep inside the dense forest.
The operation party noticed blood stains on the stones near the scene of the gunfight. The search operation according to sources is on and sniffer dogs were pressed into service to track down the militants.
It is pertinent to mention that on May 31, 2019, two special police officers were injured in a face off with militants in Appan area of Marwah belt in the district. The militants in this case also manage to escape from the spot.
Kishtwar, which was declared militancy-free over a decade ago, was rattled by the killing of state Bharatiya Janata Party secretary Anil Parihar and his brother, Ajeet Parihar, on November 1 last year, followed by killing of senior RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma and his security guard inside a health centre on April 9 this year.
