Heavy landslide, stone shooting at Seri, Kela Morh, Panthal
Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Closed

Jammu, Feb 4: The continuous rain and snowfall in the entire state led to closure of many roads including 300-km-long Jammu Srinagar national highway on today.
Kashmir Valley and the mountainous districts of Jammu region, once again have been cut off from the rest of the country due to heavy snow fall and rain in the entire state.
Due to slippery road condition, landslide, stone shootings and heavy snowfall between Patnitop and Jawahar tunnel area, the 300-km-long Jam-mu-Srinagar national highway remained closed for vehicular traffic, forcing more than 500 trucks to halt at various places.
There is continuous snowfall between Patnitop to Ba-nihal and the landslide and stone shooting has made the condition worst at Seri, Kela Morh and Panthal at district Ramban.
Anil Magotra, SP Ramban said, "the highway is closed since Sunday late night due to continuous snow and land slide and shooting stones at some points between Patnitop and Banihal."
"There are around 100 passenger vehicles, including buses, taxis, tempo traveler etc and more than 100 trucks/ load carriers stranded on 100 km stretch from Patnitop to Jawahar tunnel," he added.
SP said that necessary arrangement for the halt of the stranded passengers are there at 11 different location at the highway, some schools, shelter sheds, police buildings have been vacated for the stranded passengers, with the facility of blankets, electricity and water arrangements.
Meanwhile, the link roads of Doda-Kishtwar, Poonch-Rajouri are also blocked due to heavy snowfall.
Apart from Patnitop to Banihal, around 200 vehicles stranded at Udhampur, 100-150 trucks at Sidhra By-pass in Jammu.
Meanwhile, Jammu has observed the continuous rainfall in the city on today. While the Valley including mountainous district of Jammu region observed fresh snowfall.
The weathermen said that there will be no improvement in the weather in next few days, however, they forecasts, "Moderate to heavy rain/snow would occur at most of the places over the state," and a warning has also been issued by the MeT department Srinagar, "Heavy rain/snow would occur at few places during the next 24 hours."
The continuous rain and snow fall raised the minimum temperature of Jammu upto 11.6 degree Celsius and maximum of 18.3 degree Celsius with 2.3mm of rain, while in Katra received 9.5 mm of rain, Bhaderwah received 9.4mm of rain with the snow depth of 5 cm, Batote gets 22.0 mm of rain with the snow depth of 1cm and Banihal received 20.6 mm of rain with the snow depth of 4cm.
