Kishtwar Madarsa students allege Police brutality
DDC orders probe

Kishtwar, Feb 4: In a bid to avoid punishment, seven teenage inmates of Kishtwar Madarsa fell prey to the brutality of Kishtwar Police.
As per the reports, seven teenage students aging 12-14 yrs at Madrasa Assrar-ul-Uloom Patimhala some 45 kms from District Headquarter Kishtwar escaped from Madsara on Friday last fearing punishment for not reciting the Quranic verses, but these seven teenagers did not know that more trouble was in store for them.
According to Ghulam Hussain Kripak, father of one of the victims, his 10 year old son Saqib Hussain along with six other students of Madrasa Assrar-ul-Uloom Patimhala identified as Muzzafar Hussain son of Mohammad Shaban Butt resident of Bhallesa, Haqnawaz son of Ghulam Hussain Shah resident of Patimhala, Zakir Hussain son of Noor Mayie resident of Chandari Dool, Noor Hussain son of Ghulam residentof Dool Chandari, Shabir Ahmed son of Mohammad Shafi Sheikh resident of Rakna Palmar and Abdul Rashid son of Noor Mohammad resident of Dool Kishtwar left the Madrasa fearing punishment from the teacher. He said that soon after the head preacher of the Madrasa informed them about the escaping of his and other children, he along with family members of other students left home in search of the children. Ghulam Hussain said that among the seven children, they manage to trace 4 children within few hours. He said that after motivating their children, they started heading back towards when two police personnels intercepted them with the direction to report at local Police Post. He said that at local police post, ASI Abdul Majid and other police personnals on duty not only tortured their children, but also pressurized them to accept that they had left the Madrasa to join the militant ranks. He said that the sign of the brutality are visible on the bodies of the all the seven victim students.
While talking to the "Early Times", 12 year old Muzaffar Hussain while recounting the horror said that police beat them ruthlessly and tried to pressurize him and his friends to accept that they had left the Madrasa to join militant ranks. "He (ASI) told me and my friends to accept that they have the plan to join militancy and even told us that he will arrange seven 303 riffles for them and advice them to go to nearby forest area along those riffles and later he will bring them", said Muzzaffar Hussain. He said that during over six hour detention inside police post, Incharge Police post subjected them to mental as well as physical torture.
The aggrieved Madrasa students after getting dejected from the response of senior police officers moved a written complaint against the erring police personnels before Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar. After listening the grievances and plight of these students, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad Chowdhary directed Tehsildar Kishtwar Inderjeet Singh Parihar to conduct and inquiry in the allegations and submit him the report.
