Only Congress committed for upliftment of backward, underdeveloped: Azad
'Seeks vote for Congress on developmental plank'

Poonch/Rajouri/Kathua, Apr 5: Seeking mandate of the people to accelerate developmental activities in remotest and far-flung areas, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that Congress is committed for the betterment and upliftment of the backward and under-developed areas.
Accompanied by firebrand Congress Minister for PHE, Flood Control and Irrigation, Sham Lal Sharma, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad today held series of public meetings in remote and hilly belt of twin border districts Poonch-Rajouri and sought vote for Congress on developmental plank.
Asserting that Congress is contesting Lok Sabha elections on development plank, Azad said that during its regime Congress had proved how to deliver good governance to the people. Accrediting Congress regime to complete work on Mughal road, he said that the dream of making Mughal road functional was fulfilled only during the regime of Congress led government in the State.
He said credit goes to Congress that vehicular movement on this historical road was started. Azad also availed this opportunity to inform the it was all due to the efforts to Congress led government at Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir that points at LoC were opened for trade.
Highlighting the contribution of Congress at Centre in the development of Rajouri and Poonch district, Azad listed numerous projects executed through various centrally sponsored schemes in the twin border districts. Congress stalwart also highlighted that "sanctioning of a Medical College for Rajouri and Poonch district is a pointer to the fact that Congress led UPA is aware of the problems of this border and hilly belt. "Had Congress not concerned about your problems, the Medical College would not have been sanction for you," he said.
Meanwhile after visiting twin border districts Poonch-Rajouri, Union Minister directly landed to Kathua from Nowshera to re-start his campaign.
Azad held series of public meetings at Keerian, Gandyal, Kharote, Kalaspur and Dol-Khud of Kathua district.
In his address, Azad highlighted the achievements of Congress led UPA and said ‘There has been record development in the past 10 years' rule of Congress led UPA-I and UPA-II. Shockingly, there are some political parties that are misleading the people by launching false propaganda against Congress.
Azad further added that in past ten years of 70 percent of the villages of the country have been connected with roads, 70 lakhs schools have been established He said that under there has been a three-fold increase in food subsidy during UPA tenure. He also mentioned that for the upliftment of poor the ‘Food Security Act’ has been passed during UPA regime".
