CRPF observes 'Valour Day' | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 10: The Centre of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) observed the Valour Day in Kashmir to commemorate the victory of 1965 war and successful defense of two chowkies in Rann of Kutch during the battle. In this regard, a function was organized at RTC Srinagar where IG CRPF Pradeep Kumar Singh was the chief guest. The function was inaugurated by IG CRPF in presence of IG operations Kashmir Nalin Prabhat. CRPF spokesperson Kishor Prasad said that in April 1965, the Pakistan Army had started Operation Desert Hawk to capture border posts. Four companies of 2nd Battalion CRPF were manning SARDAR and TAK posts in the Rann of Kutch. On April 9, an infantry brigade attacked the chowkies where they found resilient CRPF men who repulsed the attack. In the action, eight jawans lost their lives and 19 were held captive as they kept the assailants at bay for 12 hours.
