4/11/2014 12:09:53 AM
Early Times Report
Kupwara, Apr 10 : Accidental fire from an army man created panic in a village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, some 90 kms from the state's summer capital Srinagar, sources said on Thursday. They said an army trooper accidentally pressed the trigger in Handwara Chotipora village this afternoon. The army man was a part of a road opening party. Residents ran for cover as panic gripped the locality. Initial reports had claimed that militants had attacked an army patrol and a trooper had suffered injuries.
But a top police officer from the district said there was no attack from the militants and the army trooper had fired accidentally.
