77 kgs of Bhukki seized, three held in separate incidents 11/18/2014 12:05:00 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 17: Continuing its vigil against the narcotics smugglers, police arrested three narcotics smugglers in three separate incidents in last 24 hrs and seized 77 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) from their possession. According to police spokesperson based on specific information a naka party of P/S Gangyal led by HC Vinod Kumar under the supervision of SHO P/S Gangyal, intercepted one Truck Bearing Regd No. JK03 D-7912 at Kunjwani Near Peer Baba NHW Jammu late last night at 11:00 PM. "The said truck was driven by Shabir Ahmed s/o Abdul Salam of Rashipura Teh Avantipura, Distt Pulwama, Kashmir and Asif Majid S/o Abdul Majid R/o Banpoo Teh & Distt Ananatnag, Kashmir and the duo showed some nervousness on seeing police forcing police team to subject the truck for thorough search on suspicion, police sources said. During search of vehicle, police team recovered 40 kg Bhukki (Poppy Straw) from the vehicle, police said, adding, "both the accused were arrested by the said police Party on the spot and material was seized along with Vehicle." A case FIR No. 158/14 U/S 8/15NDPS Act stands registered and further investigation is on. In similar incident, naka party of P/S Gangyal in the wee hours of today morning (at around 0500 hrs) intercepted one Truck Bearing Regd No. JK13 A-3933 driven by one Mehraj Ahmed Butt s/o Ali Mohd Butt of Rashipura Avantipura, Distt Pulwama, Kashmir. "During search of the vehicle police team recovered 30 kgs of Bhukki (Poppy Straw), police said while adding, "accused was arrested on the spot and material was seized along with Vehicle. A Case FIR No. 160/14 U/S 8/15NDPS Act was registered and investigation is on in this regard Yet in similar incident during naka checking at Patnitop, one truck bearing regd no PB10BZ -0814 driven by Manjeet Singh s/o Jeet Singh R/o Churwal Ludhiana was intercepted by Police party of P/P Patnitop. Police team headed by I/C PP Patnitop SI Irfan Wani checked the vehicle thoroughly and recovered poppy straw weighing 07 kilo from the truck.
