Hooligans cause damage to joint orchard of two brothers at Sheeri in Baramulla

SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Baramulla Police has arrested some persons who had allegedly resorted to high handedness and cut scores of fruit trees in a joint orchard of two brothers in the Taripora village of the Sheeri area.
Reports and eye-witnesses told Early Times that some persons belonging to the Dangarpora village vandalized the orchard of two brothers Bashir Ahmad Khan and Nazir Ahmad Khan, residents of Taripora, Sheeri. The Khan accused some locals of Dangarpora of causing huge damage to their orchard and pushing them to wall.
Sources told Early Times that Khan brothers had some feud with a group of locals of Dangarpora village and following this feud the orchard of the due suffered huge damages. Both Bashir and Nazir were crestfallen when they saw scores of trees in their orchard flat on the ground. It is estimated that the damages caused to the orchard are in lakhs. "Over all these years both I and my brother had put in hard work while working on our orchard. But all the hard work put in has gone waste since scores of the fruit trees have been cut. The trees are lying flat on the ground and we have suffered loss in lakhs of rupees. We have been reduced to beggars and it would be difficult to survive," said Bashir.
Following the incident Khan brothers lodged a complaint with Police Station Sheeri. Acting on the complaint the police registered First Information Report (FIR) and launched a manhunt to nab the persons involved in the cutting of trees. The police have arrested some persons said to be involved in the incident and further arrests cannot be ruled out. "Mere arrests are not enough in the case and stern action needs to be taken against the culprits. It is important to recover the damages caused to the orchard from the people who carried out hooliganism. The amount of the damages needs to be recovered from the culprits so that nobody dares to repeat the mistake," said Bashir. Residents of Taripora area have expressed concern over the cutting of fruit trees by the hooligans in the joint orchard of Bashir and Nazir. They have demanded stern action against the people who cut the trees so that people have faith in the system and above all system of justice.
