Inter-college cricket tournament of JU
SVS Sunderbani beat GDC Akhnoor by 9 runs

JAMMU, Jan 20: The SVS Sunderbani outplayed Government Degree College (GDC) Akhnoor by nine runs to advance into the next round of the ongoing annual Inter-college Twenty20 Tournament, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, on the campus ground, here today.
Batting first after winning the toss, Sunderbani set a target of 122 runs for nine wickets, which, in reply, GDC Akhnoor could not chase in allotted overs and the innings ended at 121 runs with two wickets in hand.
Sunny Kumar remained top scorer with 42-ball 50 runs including five fours and two sixes. Raghav and Sourav Sharma contributed 15 runs each to the total while Ankit Sharma made a valuable contribution of 14 runs. From GDC Akhnoor, Somesh Sharma bagged two wickets while Rohit, Sunil and Jagdish shared apiece each.
Later, GDC Akhnoor exhausted their quota of overs for 112 runs with Sandeep (31) being highest scorer. Amit Sharma, Vinod and Chetan added 14 runs each. From Sunderbani, Sourav and Vishal took two wickets each.
Today's match officiated by the technical penal comprising Saleem ur Rehman and Vijay Dogra while Manu Khajuria maintained the score.
Earlier, in the opening match of the tournament, played yesterday, the combined side of PG Law and Sciences registered a five wickets win against GDC Udhampur.
Batting first, GDC Udhampur made 125 runs for eight wickets. Saksham batted well hitting half century (53 runs off 52 balls, 5x4, 1x6). Rohit Chib emerged as most successful bowler from PG Law and Sciences while Dalbir Singh took two wickets.
In reply, PG achieved the target in 19.4 overs losing five wickets. Arun Singh and Vikram Singh were maximum scorers with 39 and 27 runs in their respective accounts. Shahnaz and Rukmesh made valuable contributions of 17 and 20 runs respectively. From GDC Udhampur, Suksham, Neeraj, Pankaj and Inderjeet took one wicket each.
